CASE STUDY | 12 MW FOR A TEMPORARY POWER GENERATION PLANT

Powersil, together with HES (Himoinsa Energy Services), has designed and installed a temporary 12 MW power plant in record time to reinforce the electricity grid. The solution immediately configured by the HES team stands out for its high operational reliability, thanks to the use of generator sets that ensure maximum performance for up to 12 hours a day and adapt to PRP mode during peak demand.

A public electricity company needs to ensure the continuity of supply whilst maintenance work is carried out on one of the generators at its main power plant. The project requires a fast, reliable and technically robust solution, capable of operating safely in continuous mode and with the capacity to meet peak demand, while also complying with the high safety standards involved in working in critical facilities and configured in an N+1 scheme to provide redundancy and maximum reliability.

Commissioning in record time

The HES technical team carried out the installation and commissioning in record time, ensuring that the generator sets could begin to operate with total reliability from the outset. The plant supplies up to 12 hours of continuous power per day, adapting to peak demand in PRP mode.

A comprehensive turnkey temporary power generation solution

Beyond supplying equipment, HES (Himoinsa Energy Services) offers a comprehensive turnkey solution, including design, installation, maintenance and operation of the temporary plant. This is a comprehensive proposal that ensures maximum performance and total flexibility to adapt the service to the evolution of maintenance work at the power plant.

Powersil, the HIMOINSA group company in collaboration with HES, has designed and installed this power solution, which consists of:

  • 13 HRYW-1275 1250 kVA generator sets (12 operational + 1 in N+1 configuration for redundancy).
  • Two 8 MVA step-up transformer substations to raise the voltage to 11 kV / 50 Hz.
  • Auxiliary fuel tanks, guaranteeing autonomy of more than 40 hours of continuous operation.
  • State-of-the-art remote monitoring system for real-time supervision of all equipment operation.
  • Local and proximity technical service, ensuring rapid support throughout the entire period of operation.

The holding company integrated into HIMOINSA provides a complete turnkey solution, taking care of the engineering, logistics, installation, commissioning and comprehensive maintenance of the plant.

A stable and uninterrupted power supply

The project, which incorporates 13 20-foot HRYW-1275 units, has achieved a great result with delivery in record time. This YANMAR engine-powered equipment is designed and manufactured to operate at peak efficiency (BEP) in both variable load (PRP) and fixed load (COP) applications. This allows for maximum fuel efficiency, ensuring lower OPEX than other options on the market.

The configured solution stands out for its high operational reliability, thanks to the use of generator sets that ensure maximum performance throughout the entire operation. In addition, the plant offers total flexibility, operating in COP (Prime) mode for up to 12 hours a day and adapting to PRP mode during peak demand, thus ensuring a stable and uninterrupted power supply during maintenance work at the power plant.
