June 18, 2025HIMOINSA sets up in Chile and strengthens its expansion in Latin America
The company is establishing a subsidiary in Chile, which will be led by Carlos Castro, who has extensive experience of more than 25 years in the energy sector.
HIMOINSA, an international leader in the design and manufacture of power technology solutions, and part of Yanmar Energy Systems, announces the opening of a subsidiary, this time in Chile. The launch of this new entity reinforces the company's international expansion strategy, which already has 15 subsidiaries worldwide. HIMOINSA operates in Latin America through its commercial offices and production centres in Argentina, Brazil, Panama and the Dominican Republic, and is now strengthening its position with its establishment in Chile.
‘This is a constantly growing market in which we have supplied equipment for major projects over the last few decades. With a market size of around 10,000 units per year, Chile is experiencing a progressive increase in power demand, so our presence in the country will help us to offer tailor-made solutions, strengthen local support and speed up customer responses,’
Gabriel Gallino, LATAM Región Head
In its first phase, HIMOINSA Chile will focus its business model on the rental of power generation equipment – temporary power – with a fleet ready to offer sustainable, efficient, and reliable solutions. Going forward, the company will operate under a mixed rental and sales model, with efficient and sustainable power solutions, offering a complete portfolio of generator sets to meet energy demand in sectors such as mining, agro-industry, public services, the salmon industry, ports, etc.
At the forefront of this strategic development will be Carlos Castro, as Managing Director, with a proven track record of more than 25 years in the power sector. Castro has led strategic projects in the power sector, holding positions of responsibility at Cummins, Energyst Cat Rental Power and Aggreko, among others.
‘We are launching an exciting project in Chile, becoming a leading provider of energy solutions. In the first phase, we will focus more on temporary power solutions, highlighting our ability to mobilise generators extremely quickly for medium- and long-term projects’.
Carlos Castro, Managing Director
Sustainable Power | Solutions for critical sectors with emission reduction requirements
HIMOINSA Chile has become a key player in supplying the growing temporary power market with equipment that meets the highest regulatory standards. Chile's regulatory framework is moving towards raising its environmental requirements in line with the European Stage V standard, which will gradually require all operators to have technologically advanced solutions and fully comply with emissions regulations.
In this context, HIMOINSA offers the local market state-of-the-art generators designed to comply with this regulatory framework. The company already has extensive experience in sustainable power solutions, both in Europe with Stage V models and in the United States with the Tier 4 product line; strict regulatory frameworks in terms of emissions, which require the most advanced technology in particle and NOx reduction. With this specialised know-how in highly regulated European and US markets, HIMOINSA is positioning itself as a strategic partner in the Chilean market.
With the establishment of its new subsidiary in Chile, HIMOINSA strengthens its strategic presence in Latin America and reinforces its commitment to efficient, local and technologically advanced regional coverage to provide a direct response to the energy needs of customers in all Latin American markets.
